One of the great things about the Okinawan Festival is that it is organized and staffed almost entirely by volunteers. Annually, more than 2,500 volunteers donate their unique skills and services to make the Festival possible.
There are a wide variety of opportunities for individuals willing to volunteer their time for a worthwhile cause.
To volunteer, contact Hawaii United Okinawa Association at 676-5400 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Currently, volunteers are needed for the following:
PRE FESTIVAL CONSTRUCTION & SET UP
Tuesday – Friday, August 30 - September 2…. On Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. there will be two large containers that need to be unloaded. We will need a lot of strong guys to assist at this time.
The First Aid Booth is looking for people with current medical experience (doctors, nurses, EMT, etc.) to help treat minor injuries at the festival. Medical and nursing students are also welcomed if you are in need of community service hours. If you are able to help, even for a few hours, please contact Lisa Wong-Yamamoto, RN, via email at email@example.com or via phone, 220-4075.
POST FESTIVAL CLEAN UP
Monday, September 5, is the time to break down and fill up the two containers for storage until the next festival. We also need to clean up the entire festival grounds.
